Ferencvaros react to Celtic striker speculation

Transfer

Ferencvaros are in the dark about Celtic’s reported interest in Ryan Mmaee.

In midweek it was claimed that the Moroccan striker was the subject of interest from Celtic as Ange Postecoglou builds up his striking options for next season.

Despite Ferencvaros finishing in bottom place in their Europa League group Mmaee impressed against good quality opposition and seems to be in the right age bracket to fit Postecoglou’s preferred transfer profile.

Responding to speculation over interest from Celtic in the striker, the Daily Record quotes Ferencvaros sports manager Tamas Hajnal telling Hungarian agency NS:

At the moment, however, I can’t report anything specific about this. Ryan is recovering from his injury anyway and I am sure he will stay with us this summer.

With Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis competing for the main striking role it seems unlikely that Celtic would be looking for another high quality striker to be third in the pecking order for a starting place.

Daizen Maeda would appear to be a reasonable third option at the moment, earlier this week his move from Yokohama Marinos to Celtic on a permanent basis was confirmed.
