FLASHBACK- Watch Kris Boyd’s classic reaction to Deal of the Century Aaron Ramsey

Just over three months ago Kris Boyd couldn’t hold back any further.

At Christmas time the former Kilmarnock ace had warned the SPFL that bringing forward the winter break was pointless as crowds wouldn’t be allowed into stadiums when the season resumed.

On December 17 close to 60,000 fans watched Celtic beat Hibs 2-0, the following night Aberdeen fans cheered Scott Brown on as the Dons were held to a 1-1 draw by Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s title favourites.

A few days later the gap at the top of the Premiership was down to two points as Greegsy had a mare at Ross County followed by Celtic’s last gasp win over Dundee United.

Realising that the leadership could change hands in midweek the Ibrox club needed a morale boost and a diversion for the fans.

Amad Diallo had been signed on loan the week before but more was required than a £37m starlet- onto the scene came Aaron Ramsey.

Sitting in the Transfer Deadline Day studio with Shay Given big Boydy was in his element- happier than the day he discovered the Monster Munch cupboard at Murray Park. And in he went, all hair weave and Turkish gnashers…

The Aaron Ramsey deal to Rangers shows that the club is still one of the biggest in the UK. He’s turned down Premier League clubs to join Rangers and the player speaks about playing in front of 50,000 fans, European football and the chance to go and win trophies.

He’s not motivated by money otherwise he wouldn’t be anywhere near Rangers. But we do know it’s within Rangers’ wage structure so there’s no problems there. It’s a fantastic signing not only for Rangers but for Scottish football as a whole.

Maybe tomorrow, when it starts to sink in with people, Paul Gascoigne going to Rangers was probably the last time that a proper footballer arrived in Scottish football. That’s what Ramsey is. It just shows you the lure of Rangers.

It just shows you how gullible and on-message Boydy is. Rambo has still to play a full 90 minutes for his new club and is an injury doubt for tomorrow’s Europa League tie at home to RB Leipzig.

Sky Sports have three more SPFL Premiership fixtures to show, all of them featuring Champions-elect Celtic.

  • Pan says:

Boyd would never know what a proper footballer looked like.
There are quite a number in Scottish football that he has missed.
Ramsey was not one of them and extremely overrated.

  • Frankie says:

When sawdust head mentioned best welsh player I totally thought he was right talking about John Hartson like that as for wee armadillo should curl up and roll away, what a poor advert for Man Utd.

  • harold shand says:

Him and 99.9 % of the media monkeys lost their minds about this and all you needed to do at the time was look what the Juventus fans were saying about him and how it would play out .

    And they were right .

  • Bob says:

This clown should look back on everything he said that day look in the mirror and say what an embarrassment you are.

  • Tony B says:

Bydie wouldn’t know a proper footballer if he ran over him in the street.

How could he? He’s a simpleton and a hun, and as we all know, huns know fuck all about football.

    Witafanny!
