After two months out through injury Adam Montgomery returned to a much changed Aberdeen side yesterday.

The 19-year-old came off the bench for the last 15 minutes as the Dons hung on to a 1-0 win at home to Dundee to virtually kill off any fears of being dragged into a relegation play-off.

Since he was injured against Dundee United on February 26 there has been a few changes at Pittodrie with Stephen Glass sacked and Scott Brown moved on.

After 16 appearances for Celtic this season Montgomery’s career is at an interesting stage which Ange Postecoglou will assess during the summer.

Celtic seem likely to bring in a new left-back during the summer transfer window to compete with Greg Taylor for that position.

Another season out on loan is probably the most likely option for Montgomery as he undergoes the toughening up process with his versatility allowing him to play at left-back or on the left wing.
