Pictured- how John Beaton moved Celtic almost 10 yards back for a free kick

Midway through the second half of today’s Glasgow derby there was a baffling free-kick decision from John Beaton.
Around two yards from the edge of the arc (22 yards from goal) at the edge of the penalty box Scott Wright used his arm to control a high ball then boot it clear.
It seemed to take Beaton a few seconds to register the foul, only blowing once the clearance had reached the halfway line.
When the free-kick was placed the position had been moved back the best part of 10 yards, clearly evidenced by the cut of the grass in the pictures below.

Today’s 1-1 draw leaves Celtic six points ahead of their city rivals with three matches left to play. Technically four points is still required but with a goal difference advantage of plus 19 a win against Hearts on Saturday will virtually ensure the SPFL title is back at Celtic Park.
The hoops are currently on a run of 29 SPFL matches without defeat consisting of 24 wins and five draws.
