Scott Brown is set to be announced as the new manager of Fleetwood Town next week, according to the Daily Mail.

After leaving Aberdeen in February the former Celtic skipper announced his retirement from playing at the weekend.

Raith Rovers had been tipped to make a move to give Brown his first job in management but it now seems certain that the Fifer in heading to England for his first crack at management.

CORRECTION: Fleetwood are in League One

Stephen Crainey has been the caretaker boss of Fleetwood who have also had Joey Barton and Steven Pressley in the manager’s chair.

Famously the club that sent Jamie Vardy to fame the momentum of coming out of the Conference seems to have been lost in recent seasons with near neighbours Blackpool back above Fleetwood in the Championship.

It is a big task for Brown to take on but after three months to consider his options he’ll know what he is stepping into with the League One side.
