South Melbourne FC are throwing open the gates to their match against Avondale to anyone wearing ‘Celtic apparel’.Â
Back in 1996 the Victoria League club decided to give an aspiring young manager his first job on the frontline. On the other side of the world, 26 years later Ange-mania is likely to peek on Saturday when 60,000 fans show their appreciation at an SPFL title party.Â
Like everything in his life Ange Postecoglou has fought his way up from the bottom based on ability and self-belief. There has been no hand-ups or short cuts as he made the long winding road from semi-pro soccer in Australia to managing the biggest club in Scotland.Â
It’s simple, wear your Celtic kit on Friday night and get free entry to our huge clash against third-placed Avondale. By then, we also hope Ange will have been crowned champion of Scotland.

Postecoglou was in charge of South Melbourne for four years before seven years with the national u-17 and u-20 sides.Â
Eventually that led to taking charge of the Socceroos at the 2014 World Cup Finals but an opportunity to manage in Europe proved elusive until Celtic showed interest in the fourth month of their search for Neil Lennon’s successor.Â
