The afternoon after Celtic’s title party hadn’t dulled Joe Hart’s personal joy and professional satisfaction.

At the age of 35 he was at the forefront of every aspect of Celtic’s title triumph despite many writing off his career in the previous couple of years.

The decline from England number one to back up at Burnley looked to have hit rock bottom when Nuno Espirito Santo delivered some blunt messages at Spurs. Not only would the new boss at White Hart Lane not be playing Hart but in his opinion the keeper would be as well hanging up his gloves.

Ange Postecoglou thought otherwise, the goalkeeper that he inherited at Celtic couldn’t be relied on with the decision to go for Hart absolutely inspired.

The veteran shared some of the responsibility that had been handed to Callum McGregor and direction to a brand new back four featuring Greg Taylor and Tony Ralston who had played second fiddle to Diego Laxalt and Jonjoe Kenny last season.

It all came together, brilliantly. Hat played in 36 of the 38 SPFL Premiership matches. At full-time on Saturday against Motherwell he celebrated like it was his first ever trophy.

Alongside next season’s title defence the former Manchester City keeper can look forward to a return to the Champions League.
