For reaching and taking part in the Europa League Final the Ibrox club will receive direct payment of £17m from UEFA for their participation.

For reaching the Play Off for a place in the last 16 of the Europa Conference Celtic will be paid £9m.

The usual financial fantasies have been flying about over the last couple of weeks with Stewart Robertson claiming that reaching last weeks final in Seville was equivalent to qualifying for the group stage of the Champions League. Robbo will be hoping that he isn’t back in the accountancy market any time soon.

The figures don’t include ticket money, an area that the Ibrox fans contributed greatly towards with the most expensive group stage tickets plus four knock-out ties.

Those matches would have brought in serious money with 50,000 capacities at all seven games. Against that there are a number of running costs such as policing, stadium staff with VAT deducted at 20% from ticket prices.

Bonuses will have been paid to the players and coaching staff. There is no doubt that the run to Seville has brought in very significant money but nowhere close to the revenue that that Champions League brings in, if only Mister Gerrard has got past Malmo and through the Play Off round.
