The Jota offside ‘goal’ that Sportscene didn’t want to replay or review

Celtic’s win over Hearts was comfortable enough but it could have been more emphatic if a flag happy linesman had applied the Laws of the Game properly.

Leading 3-1 the hoops had their visitors on the ropes after wearing them down despite losing a goal after just three minutes.

Cutting inside from the right wing to open up more space Liel Abada weighted his pass perfectly with Jota holding back enough to ensure that he was onside with a clear run at Craig Gordon.

It was great link up play, Giorgos Giakoumakis had peeled off right, taking the attention of two Hearts defenders but unfortunately also the eye of the assistant referee who raised his flag.

The cut of the grass made it an easier decision for the assistant, there were two Hearts defenders playing Jota onside. True Gordon didn’t give the shot his full attention as Jota netted because the flag had been raised.

Assistant referees allocated to the top SPFL Premiership fixtures should be experts, able to follow play and always know the line of the last defender. Sadly Celtic and Jota were denied a clear run at goal the chance to add to their goal difference cushion.

Sportscene didn’t think that the decision was worth reviewing, no hi-tech equipment was required to pick up on the error.

In previous matches against Hearts this season offside decisions have twice gone against Celtic. These are the decisions that VAR should decide on next season but that remains to be seen with the SFA overseeing recruitment.

Scotlands media shame how they can say they are impartial is insulting to any ones intelligience we are no longer accepting the back seat

Perhaps these videos should be sent to Robbie Neilson and Hearts FC. Neilson has a big mouth and small intellect and instead of shouting out about perceived decisions against his team, he should look at these, which all went incorrectly for his team.

Our manage Ange’s sensible approach puts the abrasive Neilson to shame.
No wonder we do not have any respect for the Hearts manager.

This season has been odd with high proption of celtic goals are analytically dissected too the smallest detail, and run for days by x players and refs pundits and press lackeys too find the minute little thing wrong with it,, no other team is subjected to this scrutiny,, strange
