Handed straight to their trusted media partners at The Herald, the Ibrox statement was demolished as soon as it was published.

Soon after yesterday’s derby match had ended social media was sharing video clips of bottles and missiles being thrown by the group of 700 visiting fans. Elderly and disabled bears were notable by their absence.

With Giovanni van Bronckhorst coming as close as is possible to conceding the SPFL Premiership title the bears were in need of a deflection statement.

Knowing that their statement would quickly trend on social media the Ibrox PR team went all in with the Elderly and Disabled Loyal prominent, a group of fans that only usually surface in tales of heavy handed policing and inadequate stewarding on European trips.

Just as they did last month when pieces of broken glass were discovered by Joe Hart inside his penalty box at Ibrox, both the SFA and SPFL are on mute over yesterday’s incidents.

With three or four months until the clubs meet again all parties will be hoping that things settle down to keep the poisoned O** F*** business model clicking into next season.
