Ajax are reported to have joined the race to sign Vinicius Souza from Lommel.Â
Joining a club with a long tradition of developing and selling players to the top leagues in Europe will be a major attraction for the Brazilian but Anthony Joseph of Sky Sports suggests that Celtic is Lommel’s preferred destination.Â
That would suggest that the Belgian club are only looking to send the midfielder out on loan with Ange Postecoglou trusted through his City Football Group connection at Yokohama Marinos.Â
UPDATE: Ajax have joined the list of interested clubs for Celtic target Vinicius Souza. @SkySportsNews understands the City Football Group, who own his club Lommel, would prefer that he was loaned to Celtic.
But the decision will be left up to the player and his agent. https://t.co/LOOhswTudI

Although Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota came in on loan last August Postecoglou gives the impression of wanting to work with and develop players rather than look for quick solutions before returning them to their parent club.Â
Lommel signed Souza from Flamengo of Brazil in October 2020, after making 18 Jupiler League appearance on his debut season he played 27 league matches last season for Mechelen.Â
With a contract that runs until May 2025 Lommel will have almost complete control over Souza’s movement during the transfer window.Â
