Belgian side Genk are reported to be showing interest in Connor Barron.

At the weekend Celtic were reported to be keen on signing the Aberdeen midfielder as Ange Postecoglou gears up for his third transfer window.

In the January transfer window Celtic brought in three midfielders but with Nir Bitton and Tom Rogic leaving the club there is an expectation that at least one player in that area of the team will be brought in.

The Daily Record reports:

KRC Genk have joined Celtic in eyeing Aberdeen ace Connor Barron. The Pittodrie youngster is attracting growing interest after impressing for the Reds.

Barron was watched by Parkhead scouts last weekend during Scotland’s Under-21s clash with Belgium. Having produced an outstanding performance for Scot Gemmill’s side, Genk are also now monitoring the 19-year-old.

Record Sport understands the Belgian outfit were also in attendance at the international clash on their own soil and took note of Barron’s impressive show.

It is standard practice for clubs to watch u-21 international matches, especially games involving their own nation.

With interest growing in Barron Aberdeen face a difficult issue even though the midfielder signed a new contract earlier this year.

Calvin Ramsey seems to be close to joining Liverpool, losing home-grown players before the age of 20 is a major drawback in terms of team building although it does wonders for the finances of the club.
