Celtic close to signing midfielder according to African report

Celtic are apparently close to signing Christopher Scott from Bayern Munich. 

The midfielder will shortly be out of contract with a UEFA agreed compensation fee required to the Bundesliga champions. 

Celtic have lost Liam Morrison and Barry Hepburn to Bayern in recent seasons but now seem likely to be returning the compliment by signing Scott.

Scottish champions Celtic are close to signing German-born Ghanaian Christopher Scott in the summer transfer window, GHANASoccernet.com can exclusively report.  

The 19-year-old, who turns 20 in three days time, could leave Bayern Munich for the Parkhead outfit if they meet the German giant’s asking price of £250,000. 

The teen sensation is also on the radar of Austrian club SK Austria Klagenfurt but Celtic remain favourites to sign the youngster. 

Scott was born to Ghanaian parents in Cologne, Germany and started his career at Bayer Leverkusen before moving to the Bundesliga giants. 

However, he has made only two senior appearances, which came at the end of last season. 

He is yet to feature for Julian Naglessman’s side but has been a key member of the youth team this season in the Regionalliga. 

Christopher Scott has scored six goals and provided six assists in 15 games in the fourth division in Germany. The teen sensation’s contract expires in June allowing him to leave on a free transfer.

On Friday Celtic released Luca Connell who was signed from Bolton in similar circumstances in the summer of 2019. 

Under Ange Posecoglou there has been a shift away from project signings, after making just two appearances for Bayern in the season just finished it is difficult to see Scott breaking into the Celtic midfield.  

Matt Riley and Reo Hatate made big impacts when they were brought in during the January transfer window. With Callum McGregor, David Turnbull and Yosuke Ideguchi also around Postecoglou has plenty of midfield options with James McCarthy also at the club.
