Alfa Semedo is reported to be on his way to Celtic for a season long loan with an agreed price tag of 2.5m euros if all parties are happy.

Celtic appear to be keen on adding a defensive midfielder to Ange Postecoglou’s squad but face strong competition from Ajax and Bologna in for Vinicius Souzza.

Semedo came through the ranks at Benfica alongside Jota but had loan spells with Reading and Nottingham Forest before joining Vitoria Guimares last summer.

Despite signing a five year contract it seem that the midfielder will be on the move again with Portuguese Twitter account Diário de Transferências claiming:

Alfa Semedo on his way to Celtic, coming from Vitória SC. The details, according to the Transfer Diary: Loan valid for one season Mandatory purchase clause of 2.5 million euros + 1 million in variables.

With Celtic’s non-internationalists back in training on Monday Ange Postecoglou will be looking to get some transfer deals completed.

Last season Cameron Carter-Vickers, Jota and Daizen Maeda joined Celtic on loan with two of those moves made permanent with hopes high that the third move can soon be announced.
