Celtic transfer deal breaks down over personal terms

Transfer

Chris Jullien’s move to Schalke has been called off after personal terms couldn’t be agreed.

The defender flew out to Germany on Tuesday night to undergo a medical, to reach that stage in a transfer you’d assume that personal terms and a deal between the two clubs had been agreed.

Fabrizio Romano named Schalke as Jullien’s destination but shortly after 11am today the Italian based transfer guru reported a breakdown on the move on his Twitter account:

No agreement between Chris Jullien and Schalke 04 on personal terms after the medical tests yesterday. He already came back to Glasgow. #transfers Celtic will now negotiate with other clubs to find a solution, deal still open.

It had been reported that French clubs were also interested in Jullien who trained with Celtic on Monday and Tuesday.

A way back to Celtic seems unlikely but a transfer breaking down in public will make future negotiations more difficult to complete.

The French defender is under contract with Celtic for another year but the next stage in his career is now anyone’s guess.

Ange Postecoglou takes his full squad to Austria on Monday for the first of two pre-season friendlies.
