Asked to name the hero of the 2022 Europa League Final most folk would be torn between Aaron Ramsey and Kevin Trapp.

The Eintracht Frankfurt keeper put the fear into Ryan Kent as the Ibrox star fluffed his chance for glory in the 118th minute of the match then spooked Aaron Ramsey into a feeble penalty kick that looked missed from the moment that the Welshman accepted the ball.

Overlooked for his role in the whole event is Rafael Borre who only scored the equaliser, nipping between Connor Goldson and Calvin Bassey in the 69th minute, then showed the bravery to step up and take the 10th penalty to give Eintracht the trophy.

The controversy over Watergate and the other deflections that followed the match have taken away some of the glory from the most successful Colombian in this season’s Europa League.
