Nir Bitton has posted an emotional message to the Celtic support after leaving the club.

The midfielder replaced Callum McGregor for the last 10 minutes of the final SPFL match of the season as the hoops beat Motherwell 6-0 before raising the SPFL Premiership trophy.

After the final whistle Bitton and Tom Rogic took the trophy down the tunnel onto the centre circle as a chapter closed in the recent history of the club.

The announcement that Bitton’s Celtic career was over came quite suddenly but in time for the Israeli internationalist to get a memorable sent off in the final match of the season.

In contrast, a year ago Scott Brown ended his Celtic career in an empty stadium with just some flags and banners to salute his 14 years at the club.

Bitton is expected to return to Israel to resume his career but will remain involved at the club as a now distant father figure to Liel Abada.
