Stan Petrov remains confident that Celtic will sign Jota on a permanent deal from Benfica.

On May 14 Celtic lifted the SPFL Premiership title after a 6-0 win over Motherwell with Jota on the scoresheet.

Two weeks ago Cameron Carter-Vickers signed a four year contract after being on loan from Spurs but with pre-season training starting on Monday there is no official word on a permanent move from Benfica for the winger.

During the close season Jota has holidayed in Ibiza with Celtic team-mates and put on his hoops for a kickabout in New York but the one piece of news that Celtic fans have been waiting for remains elusive.

Picking up on Petrov being interviewed by Sky Sports about getting the Jota deal completed, Football Scotland reports the former Bulgarian internationalist saying:

They have to, they have to. He was an important player last season, and he’s a huge favourite with the fans. I believe that they will get it over the line and he will be a part of that team again, because the excitement he brings into the team is different.

He brings a different side when he plays to Celtic’s view altogether. So, it seems like they are going to get it over [the line]. But it seems like it’s not done yet.

Monday’s pre-season training at Lennoxtown isn’t a critical date but if Jota isn’t in the squad that travels to Austria a week later then there will be real reason to believe that there are problems getting the transfer completed.
