Kris Boyd deep in denial over Alfredo Morelos

Kris Boyd has claimed that Alfredo Morelos doesn’t have to be sold in this transfer window!

There is growing worry at Ibrox that no clubs are showing interest in the striker who has 12 months left on his contract.

Morelos could of course sign a new contract but after nine transfer windows of moonbeams from Barcelona to Aston Villa, Newcastle and Besiktas it’s likely that he’ll want to see what offers are on the table for a free agent.

Boyd smirked and giggled his way through last season until Celtic’s win at Ibrox in April confronted him with the reality that the SPFL Premiership trophy was returning to Celtic Park.

Despite the claims of massive transfer war-chest this summer the reality is that Giovanni van Bronckhorst will have to sell players before the club can make their first million pound signing in two years.

It has been every single transfer window since he has arrived that he is basically going to leave. There will be a day that he does. Right now I think Rangers are in a good position. It is not a case that they have to sell. There is room there to go and negotiate with teams.

I’ve said it before, every player has a price tag. If someone wants to meet that valuation then I’m sure Rangers will speak about it. As it stands he is a Rangers player and I am sure he will return back for pre-season ready to go to attack the Champions League qualifiers and Premiership when it starts.

Spelling out the reality to Ibrox fans isn’t really in the interests of Boyd or Sky Sports. Earlier this year the club paid up to settle their long running dispute with Sports Direct.

Morelos is due back in Scotland next week for pre-season training after missing the last two months of the 21/22 season through injury.
