Kyogo Furuhashi enjoyed his return to international football even though Japan lost 1-0 to Brazil.

A disputed penalty settled the match with the Celtic striker pulling on his international colours for the first time in 2022- World Cup year.

Kyogo suffered a near four month absence in mid-season after suffering a hamstring injury in December but signed off at Celtic with a brilliantly taken double in the 6-0 win over Motherwell on May 14.

Japan now face two fixtures in the Kirin Cup before Kyogo can enjoy a short break before undergoing pre-season training for the first time at Celtic.

With Giorgos Giakoumakis hitting the goal trail in the second half of the season Ange Postecoglou has two serious striking options as he prepares Celtic for a packed schedule that includes six Champions League ties by November 3.

On Friday Japan play Ghana in the Kirin Cup followed by a match against Chile or Tunisia.
