John Souttar was a strange omission from the Scotland squad that beat Armenia 4-1 tonight.

The defender was a 74th minute substitute in Saturday’s 3-0 defeat away to Ireland, picking up a mystery injury during his cameo that ruled him out of today’s Nations League tie.

Souttar played the full 90 minutes of last Wednesday’s 2-0 home win over Armenia but was left out of the squad that flew to Armenia alongside Andy Robertson and Scott McKenna.

Souttar did complete his move to Ibrox in-between the Scottish Cup Final and joining up with the Scotland national squad.

The injury jinxed defender did start 26 of Hearts’ 38 SPFL Premiership matches but in six years at Tynecastle he has been out injured for two and a half years.
