Not Guilty- Dave King gives his favourite response to latest Ibrox charges

Dave King has issued a statement to The Herald after the Competition and Markets Authority named the Ibrox club for their involvement in a price-fixing cartel.

Elite Sports and JD Sports have admitted their guilt but in trademark fashion the Ibrox club are in complete denial with another pay day in line for a legal team somewhere.

King escaped jail in South Africa after paying fines to cover 84 breaches of tax legislation. At Ibrox his takeover breached the laws set down by the Takeover Panel while the club recently settled with Sports Direct for another broken contract.

In 2018 Mister King ditched the Sports Direct and Puma deals to set up a contract with Hummel which has led to the latest costly actions against the club formed by Charles Green in 2012.

Covering the issue Ibrox media partner The Herald reports:

“No,” King told Herald and Times Sport when asked if he believed Rangers would be found guilty of any wrongdoing. “I am 100 per cent certain that the Club was not complicit.”

Later on King ensures that any blame falls at the feet of his Managing Director:

I was absolutely not aware and, due to the Club’s prior embarrassments with retail, James Blair and I kept such a tight control over all commercial contracts that I don’t believe it was possible for Stewart (Robertson), or any other executive at the Club, to enter into such an arrangement without my knowledge.

The South African based businessman is still looking to sell his shares in the club.
