Tom Rogic has turned down the opportunity to join Indonesian side Persija Jakarta.

The midfielder made an emotional exit from Celtic last month with no firm plans over where he would be playing his football.

During nine years in Scotland the midfielder specialised in big match goals, fittingly his final goal for Celtic was an equaliser at Ibrox as Ange Postecoglou’s side won a decisive clash on route to winning the SPFL Premiership title.

Six of his 46 goals came last season as he enjoyed a final flourish under Ange Postecoglou.

Rogic pulled out of Australia’s World Cup Play Offs in order to clear up his club future, with the Socceroos qualified for the finals Graham Arnold will be hoping that the ex-Celt is settled and available for Qatar in November.

At the age of 29 Rogic still has a good few years ahead of him in football but it is clear that he had nothing lined up when his departure from Celtic was agreed.
