‘Sky rocketing fee?’ ‘Wow, how desperate’ ‘shameful PR’ Another epic fail as Daily Record revives Edouard v Morelos comparison

There is more than two months left of the Transfer Window, it has barely got out of the starting blocks but already the Daily Record has the battle fever on. Any morsel of a rumour gets the full top spin treatment as their army of elderly readers are reassured that the Ibrox Tribute Act are big time.

News that the Morelos to Sevilla story was complete Colin Nish hasn’t yet reached the Sports Desk of the Record, the moonbeam cycle is still being worked with apparent parallels to Odsonne Edouard.

Try explaining those comparisons to any professional inside football?

Compare the kid from Paris Saint Germain to the man-child at HJK Helsinki. Compare the leading scorer of the French u-21 side to the guy that got seven minutes playing time at Copa America last summer before being binned.

Compare the medal haul of the serial winner who scored in successive Scottish Cup Finals, delivered a Treble Treble then broke Neil McCann’s heart with a Panenca. With the one hit wonder whose only medal was picked up behind closed doors.

That sort of reasoning seems to be beyond the Record despite banging the drum for the Columbian ace throughout nine previous transfer windows.

Rather than banking Dembele Dollars it looks like Morelos will part for a token fee with the Record spinning add-ons similar to Nathan Patterson who has 45 minutes against Boreham Wood on his Everton CV.
