Celtic are reported to be showing interest in signing Vitoria Guimares midfielder Alfa Semedo.
The news emerged from Portuguese sports newspaper A Bola with the midfielder having a similar playing profile to Vinicius Souza of Lommel who has been strongly linked with a move to Celtic.
Semedo came through the ranks at Benfica alongside Jota, at the age of 24 he has a very varied CV that includes loan spells at Nottingham Forest and Reading.
During those spells in the Championship the 24-year-old started 34 matches topped up by 29 appearances off the bench.
A Bola reports:
Alfa Semedo will be able to leave Vitória in this closed season. There are several clubs interested in signing the 24-year-old defensive midfielder, with Celtic at the forefront.
Apart from resigning Jota and bringing in Benji Siegrist as third choice keeper it seems that Celtic’s transfer activity is focused on a left-back and central midfielder.
There is strong speculation that Alexandro Bernabei is on his way to Celtic from Argentinian side Lanus, with Celtic back in pre-season training on June 27 transfer activity is likely to step up this week.
According to Transfermarkt Semedo is under contract with Guimares until June 2026.
