Stalemate at Ibrox with no war-chest for van Bronckhorst

The grim finances at Ibrox have been highlighted by a downbeat transfer update from The Rangers Review.

Firmly on message through the Newsquest Group the Review has delivered the latest warning to expectant fans that there is no transfer warchest despite the run to the final of the Europa League, record merchandising sales and the fees received for Nathan Patterson and Steven Gerrard.

With a year left to run on his contract the Ibrox club are reported to be in talks with Alfredo Morelos over a new deal. As Celtic discovered a year ago, at this stage control is very much in the hands of the player.

Ryan Kent, Joe Aribo, Ryan Jack and Filip Helander are in the same contract position.

With 10 English clubs looking at Stewart he is unlikely to find a more lucrative offer coming in from Ibrox.

Steven Gerrard’s spending was put on hold over two transfer windows before he left for Aston Villa, van Bronckhorst may be about to discover the same restrictions with only the over-hyped Calvin Bassey being touted for sale this window.
