With Celtic fans looking out for any news about a permanent move for Jota UEFA have come up with an unexpected flashback.

During Celtic’s six match Europa League run the social media team at UEFA seemed to catch on that there was a very captive market for any news or video content about Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Despite being knocked out at the group stage Celtic picked up nine points with some very spectacular goals along the way even if they dropped into the Europa Conference.

Two and a half hours later the tweet had been liked and retweeted more than 3,000 times.

One goal against Ferencvaros certainly made people stand up and take notice- scored by Kyogo Furuhashi to put Celtic in the lead against the Hungarians after losing in the first two group matches.

There was lots to admire about the goal but rather than focus on Kyogo’s control and execution UEFA decided to highlight the defence splitting and perfectly weighted pass from Jota. Why UEFA decided to highlight an assist from October 19 is something of a mystery.

Five weeks after celebrating the SPFL Premiership success Jota’s return has still to be confirmed. UEFA may have been teasing today but thousands of Celtic fans are waiting on news that they’ll be watching Kyogo and Jota again in the months ahead.
