van Bronckhorst misses out on another transfer target as midfielder opts for Bournemouth

Joe Rothwell has ignored long term interest from Ibrox and is set to join Bournemouth as a free agent.

The Blackburn Rovers midfielder was first linked with a move to Ibrox last October after Steven Gerrard had been unable to bring in anyone for a transfer fee during the summer window.

Jam tomorrow is a favoured dish at Ibrox, giving the suggestion that the club has some sort of strategy in place.

Rothwell could have been signed up o a pre-contract deal in January, instead money was squandered on Aaron Ramsey and Amad Dialo which delivered headlines but nothing of worth on the park unless you are an Eintracht Frankfurt fan.

With links in October and January it seems that interest in Rothwell was generated by Ross Wilson rather than either manager at Ibrox last season.

Rothwell started 36 matches in the Championship last season, at the age of 27 he has snubbed the chance to line up with Steve Davis and Scott Arfield to join up with Ryan Christie for a crack at EPL football.
