We would be happy for him to move on- club is open to offers for Celtic linked midfielder

Maccabi Haifi have virtually invited offers for Mohammad Abu Fani.

The midfielder is one of a number of players linked with Celtic in recent week but appears to be priced at under £1m.

Celtic paid £3.5m for Liel Abada last summer from Petah Tikva but five years older and a more established internationalist Fanni seems to be under-priced from the media reports linking him with a move to Scotland.

The Daily Record reports:

Celtic target Mohammad Abu Fani will be allowed to leave Maccabi Haifa for the right price.

Record Sport revealed last week Ange Postecoglou was among a quartet of managers with the 24-year-old midfielder on their radar.

Eintracht Frankfurt, Standard Liege and Royal Antwerp are all keeping tabs on Fani.

He made his international debut against Scotland two years ago and has gone on to become an influential player for Maccabi, who stormed to the Israeli title this season.

But while he still has three years remaining on his current deal, his club have admitted they will sell if their valuation, understood to be around £800,000, is met.

A Maccabi Haifa spokesman said: “We have not received an official offer from Mohammad from anyone. If there is a suitable offer for him, we would be happy for him to move on and he will be released.”

Celtic appear well covered in midfield with three arriving in January covering for the recent departures of Nir Bitton and Tom Rogic.

Bringing in a current internationalist for under £1m seems like good value but only if it is someone that Postecoglou sees fitting into his side.

Most of Celtic’s transfer attention seems to be on making the deals for Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers permanent but with the Austrian training camp less than a month away deals should soon be announced.
