Celtic have been given just 1,399 tickets for their first SPFL away match, against Ross County on August 6.

In percentage terms kit is reasonable for a stadium that holds 6,500 but in practical terms it turns into a loaves and fishes jobs once a few complimentary and staff tickets are deducted.

About the only consolation for the travelling support is that it is a 3pm Saturday kick-off which is something of a rarity in recent seasons.

There will be 60,000 inside Celtic Park for Sunday’s flag day against Aberdeen but away games are becoming more and more of a rarity.

In season 2018/19 the allocation for Ibrox was cut from 7,000 to 800, in the season ahead St Mirren and Hearts have already announced that the traditional allocation to Celtic fans has been reduced.

Kilmarnock’s away allocation for the match on August 14 has still to be announced. Celtic fans always get the Chadwick Stand but the Moffat Stand availability tends to depend on Kilmarnock’s fortunes.
