Almost under the radar of the Scottish media Angelo Fulgini signed for Mainz yesterday in a £5m deal.

At the weekend it was claimed that multiple bids had been made from Ibrox for the Angers playmaker who was viewed as the perfect replacement for Joe Aribo.

Despite the apparent transfer war-chest at Ibrox it seems that the £5m fee paid out by the Bundesliga side was just too imaginative to be matched.

Four signings are being cheered to the rafters with just over £4m spent on Antonio Colak, Rabbi Matondo, John Souttar and Tom Lawrence.

Three weeks away from a Champions League qualifier there is little prospect of Alfredo Morelos being fit and available, Kemar Roofe has a 50-50 chance and Aribo is preparing for life in the EPL. The new signings won’t be afforded any settling in time.

With 60% of the Aribo fee spent on new players it looks like Giovanni van Bronckhorst will need to wait on selling another player before he can make any more imainative signings for his squad.
