After being softened up for the sale of Joe Aribo Ibrox fans were consoling themselves with Dembele Dollars to boost Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s transfer war-chest.
Leaked details of a £10m get-out clause wasn’t well received despite the former Charlton starlet being in the final year of his contract. Double that figure then we’ll talk was the view of most bears online.
This morning they were dealt a hammer blow- completely at odds with the soothing messages sent out by their trusted In The Know (on message) fan-media reps.
Fabrizio Romano is the most trusted transfer source on Twitter broke the news. When he says £6m it means £6m despite the wishful thinking and spin from BBC Scotland, the Daily Record and the Daily Express.
Over three instalments £6m is hardly life changing for the summer budget. Transfer guru Ross Wilson has been rumbled by his former employers.
Southampton paid Celtic much more for Fraser Forster, Virgil van Dijk, Victor Wanyama and Stuart Armstrong.
Four weeks away from a Champions League qualifier the odds are stacking up against the Tribute Act joining Celtic in the lucrative group stages.
After Lavia, Southampton are also set to sign Joe Aribo. Been told deal is almost done for £6m plus add-ons to Rangers. No problem on player side, as was reported by @David_Ornstein. Incoming director Joe Shields, key for the move. ??? #SaintsFC

£6m plus add-ons is daylight robbery for a 25 year old English born player proven at international and European level with the ability of Joe Aribo. Clearly his contract status is a huge factor but I expected a much better deal closer to his release clause of £10m for Rangers.

Re: the Joe aribo sale
Is it profit? Yes
Is he replaceable? With the right scouting yesIs it an underwhelming amount? Yes
Should we be renewing contracts and selling? Yes— Sam (@WATP55titles) July 6, 2022
As a rangers fan I’m sad to see him go. His ability to take the ball in tight situations is at an elite level. If he had a few more years on his contract he would be going for a 30m

6m??? Wow

No David said Rangers weren’t wanting to accept under the release clause of 10 but he only has a year left and that’s why he’ll be going for less

For £6m Joe Aribo can grab his boots and join us in Portugal, you’re spending the next year in Glasgow.

6 million for Aribo is a steal. Congrats Southampton

How’s he only 6M????

1) sevcvnts fans are the dumbest fans in football.
2) They know nothing about football and never did otherwise they wouldn’t support sevco.
3) That is all you need to know about them.
£6M is way over the mark. Is he any better than a younger Stuart Armstrong ?
