Reo Hatate showed that there is no room for sentiment in football with an outstanding goal against Artur Boruc in his farewell match.

The former Celtic keeper pulled off some incredible saves during five years in Glasgow but was left rooted to the spot when his old club opened the scoring in today’s friendly.

Callum McGregor played a great ball in behind the Legia defence, Hatate anticipated the pass to perfection to volley the ball past the bewildered keeper from 12 yards out.

Celtic should have been out of sight before the interval as the cut through Legia with ease. Three times the visitors hit the woodwork before Hatate turned provider with a through ball for Daizen Maeda to double the lead just before half-time.

At half-time Ange Postecoglou made a number of changes, in the 47th minute Cameron Carter-Vickers was at fault as Legia pulled a goal back with the Poles equalising in the 66th minute.

The match was all about Boruc but there was plenty of good and bad for Ange Postecoglou to take from Celtic’s second last friendly before the serious stuff gets underway on July 31.
