Belgium and the Netherlands- Anthony Joseph’s Celtic transfer update

|

Anthony Joseph has revealed that there is transfer interest in Mikey Johnston from Belgium and the Netherlands.

Over the last two seasons the winger’s career has stalled with much of the problems dating back to a knee injury in January 2020 that didn’t show Neil Lennon in a very positive light.

Last season Daizen Maeda, Liel Abada and Jota filled the wide positions for Celtic, with James Forrest also in the squad Johnston’s opportunities will be limited with a season of football elsewhere the best option for his development.

Earlier this week Celtic sent Osaze Urhoghide to Oostende on loan with Mechelen signing Boli Bolingoli.

The Belgian league is one of the most competitive in Europe and attracts players from across the globe. Manchester City, Brighton and Leicester all have feeder clubs in Belgium which ensures a high standard of imported players.

Johnston is under contract with Celtic until June 2025 but needs to get 30-40 matches to his name to get his career back on target.
