Bobby Madden is trending in UK after matchday one

He is getting the attention that he craves- but not quite in the way that he would prefer.

Switching from the special circumstances of Scottish football to League Two in England is quite a drop but with no more European jollies to top up income the man from East Kilbride has headed south of the border where clubs in League Two play 46 matches a season plus a variety of cup competitions.

On day one of the season Madden was to referee Bradford v Doncaster which should have been a stroll in the park for someone that thinks they are one of the top officials in Europe.

From five minutes in the Bradford fans were singing ‘You Don’t Know What You Are Doing’ to the freshly imported Scottish referee.

Soon afterwards Bradford’s Emmanuel Osadebe suffered a double leg break following a challenge from Liam Ravenhill. Yellow card according to Madden, after an eight minute delay for treatment to Osadebe the game restarted.

As the teams reflected on a 0-0 draw Doncaster’s Lee Tomlin and Braford’s Kian Harrat are looking at suspensions after being sent off. If only their names had been John Lundstram or Calvin Bassey they would have escaped punishment.
