Ange Postecoglou won’t be losing sleep over Leicester’s reported interest in Matt O’Riley.

The midfielder is under contract to Celtic until May 2026, it is debateable that he will see that contract through but for this season at least he can look forward to Champions League football as a platform to force his way into Denmark’s World Cup squad.

After coming through the Fulham Academy before moving to MK Dons, O’Riley will be well known to EPL clubs who’ll have noted his impact and progress at Celtic.

Brendan Rodgers watched O’Riley make his Celtic Park debut in January against Dundee United but won’t be getting any encouragement to put in a bid from the current Celtic boss.

Asked about interest in the former MK Dons midfielder Postecoglou told the Daily Record:

I encourage it. If big clubs want our players that’s great. It’s means they are going well. I keep saying to the boys, they don’t need to worry about their futures if they are the best they can be today. That kind of stuff doesn’t come on my radar so I don’t worry about it.

I’m not seen anything from Matt to suggest he’s thinking about these things. The players know why big clubs might come in for them. It’s not because we’ve given them publicity – it’s the work they do, day in and day out.

A year ago Celtic were in a rush to sell Kris Ajer, Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie as they reached the final year of their contracts.

O’Riley, Josip Juranovic and Liel Abada came in as replacements on long term contracts, if they were to be sold at the end of this season bidding is likely to start at £20m with Celtic very much calling the shots.
