Karamoko Dembele appears close to severing his ties to Celtic.

For almost a decade he has been billed as one of the brightest prospects at the club but three years on from his first team debut the teenager is reported to be close to joining Brest.

Lockdown and a serious ankle injury hampered his progressive at critical stages but having failed to start a single match it appears that he’ll be playing his football in France next season as he attempts to fulfill his schoolboy potential.

Late on Thursday night, David Friel of The Sun reported:

Brest are close to snapping up former Celtic winger Karamoko Dembele on a free.  The 19-year-old is out of contract and has been chased by the Ligue 1 outfit all summer.

French reports claim Dembele will team up with Brest on Monday for pre-season training.

Karamoko made two substitute appearances last season, finding himself in the classic Catch 22 situation.

A lack of game time made him reluctant to commit to a new contract while that lack of commitment pushed him onto the fringes of Ange Postecoglou’s squad.

Celtic will be due a Development fee for the 19-year-old which is set out by UEFA.
