Celtic XI crash to a 6-1 defeat at Lennoxtown

A Celtic XI crashed to a 6-1 defeat to East Kilbride today at Lennoxtown.

There are no details of who was in the Celtic side but after a week of full time training it is concerning to lose by that scoreline to a Lowland League side. (UPDATE: First half was mainly the B team, second half u-18s).

East Kilbride have a very professional outlook, spend good money on players from the senior ranks but any 6-1 defeat for a Celtic side is a cause for concern.

Last season Celtic finished in third place in the Lowland League, missing out on second place by goal difference with Bonnyrigg Rose winning the title and a play-off against Cowdenbeath to earn a place in the SPFL. Celtic B drew 1-1 at home to East Kilbride in the Lowland League then won 3-0 at K Park just before Christmas.

Celtic B will be competing in the Lowland League in the season ahead with their first match on July 23 when they host Cowdenbeath at home (Airdrie).

The only coverage of today’s match which kicked off at 12 noon was on the East Kilbride Twitter, Celtic’s goal was scored in the 88th minute but there was still time for East Kilbride to score their sixth and final goal.
