The Daily Record has admitted that the sale of Joe Aribo to Southampton will only bring in £6m with no sign of a Dembele Dollars windfall.

In 2018 Celtic picked up £20m from Lyon for Moussa, a year later Arsenal paid £25m for Kieran Tierney. In Record terms Aribo is less than a third of Dembele and a quarter of Tierney.

Fabrizio Romano burst the bubble with a £6m Wednesday morning tweet, rather than double down with tales of £15-20m plus ‘guaranteed add-ons’ the Record has had to inform their Army of readers:

Rangers have reportedly agreed a fee of £6million with Southampton for Joe Aribo.

The Nigerian international won’t be signing a new deal at Ibrox with his current contract set to expire next summer. As a result, the club have opted to cash in rather than lose him for nothing in a year’s time and have done a deal with the Saints.

The Aribo fee will have a knock-on effect on the rest of the transfer window despite the likely arrival of Antonio Colak from PAOK.

Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent are in the same contract situation- with a £6m signal sent out their agents have something definite to work on although fitness issues will deter clubs from making a move for Morelos with a January pre-contract deal more likely.
