Desperate Daily Record steps up their Ibrox recruitment drive

The Daily Record is one step away from running with Ridvan Yilmaz pleading with Giovanni van Bronckhorst to ‘end my Besiktas hell’.

The young full-back has been linked with Eintracht Frankfurt and Torino but as he enters the final months of his Besiktas contract the Ibrox Tribute Act are reported to be showing an interest.

The Daily Mail were first to name Yilmaz as an Ibrox target, that story has been recycled across Turkish websites with the Record picking up on the trail for their army of readers.

Besiktas star Ridvan Yilmaz is “ready” to join Rangers, according to a report. And club president Ahmet Nur Cebi is set to make a decision on the left-back’s future amid claims the Ibrox side have lodged a €6million bid.

Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst is working to replace Calvin Bassey after his club record move to Ajax and 21-year-old Yilmaz is in the frame. The highly-rated Turkish defender is also attracting interest from Torino but Turkish media claim he has welcomed interest from last season’s Europa League finalists.

It’s said Yilmaz has told Besiktas he would like to be allowed to leave if the club can strike an agreement with an interested party, with the youngster determined they get the best deal possible. Haberfama.com say he is prepared to make a move to the Scottish Premiership. What happens next now rests with Besiktas chief Cebi, who will consider whether to approve the transfer. Young Boys star Christian Fassnacht has already been named as a target to replace Yilmaz.

The article in Haberfama picks up on the Daily Mail report and notes that former Galatasaray star Gheorge Hagi’s little boy is on the payroll at Ibrox.

With less than a fortnight to go until the Champions League qualifier against Union GS it looks like Borna Barisic will play at left-back alongside a brand new central defensive partnership.
