Manchester City wonderkid James McAtee is being linked with a season long move to Ibrox.

The midfielder played 18 minutes of first team football last season and is set to go out on loan after being a regular in City’s u-23 side last season.

With transfer funds extremely limited being linked with starlets and wonderkids is a useful diversion tactic for gullible bears, plans to sign Antonio Colak on the cheap from PAOK have stalled.

The Sun reports:

RANGERS will launch another ambitious bid to land Man City wonderkid James McAtee. Ibrox chiefs desperately want to broker a loan deal for the 19-year-old midfielder.

But they face stiff competition with Leeds United, Brighton and a number of English Championship sides also desperate to snare the talented teenager.

Huddersfield are in pole position to get McAtee with Swansea in the mix as well. But Gers are hoping to hijack those moves and persuade City boss Pep Guardiola the youngster would benefit more from a stint in Glasgow.

The Europa League finalists tried and failed to bring McAtee north in January last season.

In January Manchester United wonderkid Amad Dialo moved to Ibrox on loan, making zero impact despite his £37m price tag.

Since the transfer window opened John Souttar is the only addition to the Ibrox squad. Dialo and Aaron Ramsey have returned to their parent clubs with Leon Balogun and Cedric Itten moved out.

Alfredo Morelos and Ianis Hagi have been working in the gym with neither seen on the training pitch over the first week of pre-season training.
