Frank Lampard has been forced to ditch Nathan Patterson with the Murray Park starlet set to go out on loan to a Championship club.

Despite the hype of the Scottish media and rapid promotion from Steve Clarke Patterson has discovered that starting just eight SPFL Premiership matches is no preparation for the EPL where no special allowances are given.

Rafa Benitez was binned soon after sanctioning the deal for Patterson which was described as undisclosed by BBC Merseyside while their colleagues in Glasgow went into overdrive.

The much discussed add-ons have yet to be delivered with Celtic flop Jonjoe Kenny leaving Patterson on the sidelines and restricted to 45 minutes against Boreham Wood in the FA Cup before being left in the dressing room at half-time.

Alan Nixon of The Sun reports:

EVERTON are ready to send Nathan Patterson on loan. Toffees boss Frank Lampard wants the former Rangers right-back, 20, to get more games.

Patterson was one of Rafa Benitez’s last signings at Goodison before the Spaniard was sacked. But he has toiled since his £16million move in January and Lampard has been in the market for a new right-back.

Championship sides will be queuing up to land the Scotland cap on a loan deal.

The £16m transfer fee is as realistic as Craig Whyte’s billionaire status.

Patterson has played in a couple of pre-season matches but his performances have been criticised by Everton fans.

Financial Fair Play has caught up with Everton who have only added James Tarkowski to their squad with the midfielder out of contract from relegated Burnley.

If no Championship club is prepared to take Patterson on loan Aberdeen are looking for a right-back after selling Calvin Ramsey to Liverpool.

Wherever he ends up he does have the assurance of being guaranteed a place in the Scotland international squad.
