The politics of The Green Brigade has never been in doubt, at today’s SPFL opener against Aberdeen they made their support known in chants and banners for the striking RMT workers.

Strike action meant that there were no after match services from Dalmarnock Station but that inconvenience made no impact on the Green Brigade as they chanted their backing at various stages through the 2-0 win over Aberdeen.

UK wide a summer of discontent is brewing with transport officials, health service workers, local government workers and even barristers in various stages of taking industrial action.

The football authorities often like to claim that sport and politics don’t mix but with 60,000 people gathered in one venue during a Cost of Living crisis an brewing industrial unrest it is impossible to deny the overlap of working people under pressure and their weekend sporting diversion.
