Nikola Katic has no intention of walking away from the final year of his lucrative Ibrox contract.

The Croatian carthorse moved to Ibrox in the summer of 2018 as part of the Gerrard Revolution and signed an extended contract in October 2019.

After making good progress for two seasons he suffered an unfortunate training ground injury in the summer of 2020 that wiped him out for a full season.

Punted out on loan to Hadjuk Split last summer the defender only started 17 matches before being sent back to Ibrox with the Croatian club declining the option to make the move permanent.

On Tuesday The Athletic reported that Katic, Jack Simpson, Stephen Kelly and Glen Middleton were free to leave Ibrox but there has been no rush of offers to match or better their Ibrox wages.

Responding to attempts to push his client out the door, Mladen Kliskinic, Katic’s agent told the Daily Express:

We believe Niko will be staying in Glasgow. He has a contract with Rangers so he does not need to leave. We have not had any suitable offers from any other clubs.

With Connor Goldson assured of his place in central defence Giovanni van Bronckhorst has Ben Davies, John Souttar and Filip Helader ahead of Katic and Simpson for a place in his side.

    In the absence of offers,
sevco might get their SMSM lapdogs to bad mouth their expensive rejects – and make life as unconformable as possible for them.

These unwanted players might get accused of all sorts – for not being loyal to ‘The Rangers’ and b*ggering off!
