Daniel Arzani has signed for A-League club MacArthur FC to end a four year journey across European football as another victim of the City Football Group.

After three substitute appearances for Australia at the 2018 World Cup Final’s the winger had the world at his feet with choices across Europe.

Arzani switched from Melbourne City to Manchester City and was almost immediately sent on a two year loan to Celtic as friction was developing between Brendan Rodgers and Peter Lawwell.

The teenage winger suffered a cruciate ligament injury soon after coming off the bench on his debut at Dundee, an injury that he never fully recovered from.

After one more substitute appearance for Celtic Arzani returned to Manchester City before being sent out on loan to Utrecht, Aarhus and Lommel before the inevitable return to Australia.

Injuries are random and unfortunate but had Arzani signed elsewhere in 2018 his career could have worked out very differently rather than being shuttled around Europe in the hope of turning into a profit for the CFG.
