After three weeks of pre-season training Kyogo Furuhashi is ready for the most exciting period of his career.

Before Christmas the striker can look forward to playing in the Champions League which should do his prospects of getting into the Japanese World Cup side no harm at all.

A year ago Kyogo was in quarantine ready for his Celtic debut, appearing as a late substitute in a 2-1 defeat away to Hearts which arrived on the back of a Champions League exit to Midtjylland.

Since then, the successes have been much more frequent than the set-backs.

Two hamstring injuries hampered last season but with a first half double on trophy day the 21/22 club season ended on a high with the promise of much more to come.

Sharing the striking ‘burden’ is Giorgos Giakoumakis whose Celtic career only really started in January when Kyogo was out injured.

Last season the two strikers were rarely available at the same time but in the weeks ahead Ange Postecoglou will have the luxury of selecting horses for courses dependent on the opponent and circumstances.
