After a day of media manipulation, Ibrox messenger Jonny McFarlane has claimed that a transfer bid has been received for Joe Aribo.

Claims about keeping tabs/testing resolve/preparing a bid have been flying around today alongside claims and counter claims that the midfielder has turned down the offer of a new contract.

With a year left to go in his contract Aribo is in the driving seat, in 2019 he left Charlton as a free agent with that option ticking closer.

Ibrox social media has excitedly been debating a claim that there is a £10m release clause in the final year of Aribo’s contract. That seems far fetched following a season in League One with promotion gained through a Play Off victory over Sunderland.

Hopes of a bidding war seem unlikely, so far John Souttar is the only addition to last season’s squad with just four weeks to go until the Champions League Thurd Round qualifier.

Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, Filip Helander and Ryan Jack are also out of contract next summer.
