Ibrox spinmeister McFarlane doubles down despite being exposed by Fabrizio Romano

Despite being shown up by Fabrizio Romano, Jonny McFarlane is sticking to his claim that it will require a £10m fee to take Joe Aribo to Southampton.

Over the last month the editor of the Rangers Review (and The Celtic Way) has been a loyal messenger for the Ibrox board, attempting to keep fans onside as a disastrous transfer window unfolds.

As the season ended Calvin Bassey became a £25m defender simply on the basis that Celtic had sold a serial winner for that fee three years ago. On the back of that similar hyped up fees were attached to Aribo, Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos despite a complete lack of interest in any of those ‘talents’.

With kits recently flown about for Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa’s interest in Aribo Southampton have arrived with a loose change offer for the former Charlton starlet.

Romano is acknowledged as a transfer expert- as he takes the Italian to task McFarlane’s judgement seems as hopeless as his comparison between Kieran Tierney and Barrie McKay.
