Following the significant undisclosed fee picked up for Joe Aribo the club from Ibrox have announced that Calvin Bassey has joined Ajax for ‘a deal which is the largest in Rangers history’.
The extent of the fee can be judged by the spending of Giovanni van Bronckhorst who brought Ben Davies from Liverpool Reserves for £3m.
With income such a sensitive issue at Ibrox on the on-message outlets have been talking the fee up to over £20m with £5m or more in add-ons plus a 10% sell-on fee. Team mate Joe Aribo joined Southampton for £6m earlier this month.
#RangersFC can today confirm @CalvinBassey has joined @AFCAjax in a deal which is the largest in Rangers’ history.
? Calvin leaves with best wishes from everyone at Rangers and we thank him for his hard work and commitment over the past two seasons.

Bassey’s departure leaves van Bronckhorst with two weeks to put together a defence for the Champions League qualifier against Union of Belgium that will include Borna Barisic!
The Dutch genius also has issues in attack with little chance of Alfredo Morelos or Kemar Roofe being available leaving Antonio Colak as the only striker.
