Less than a week after quitting Sevco for an undisclosed fee Calvin Bassey has trashed his old club.

Two winners medals in two years is nothing to get over-excited about while the prospect of sharing a training pitch with Ryan Jack, Scott Arfield, Borna Barisic and Connor Goldson hardly gets you up out of bed in the morning.

With fans back in stadiums affecting the confidence of James Tavernier and his team-mates the title returned to Celtic during a transition season with Bassey bailing out at the first opportunity.

Why did I choose Ajax? Who wouldn’t want to come to Ajax? It’s a big club, a lot of history, play good football, play Champions League. It’s a no-brainer.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst hasn’t hung around waiting to find a replacement for Bassey with Ben Davies coming in to compete with John Souttar, Nicky Katic and Filip Helander for a place in defence alongside Goldson.

In 10 days the new look Ibrox defence face Union SG in a Champions League qualifier.
